Smyrna Baptist Church is about people and connections! We value the relationships through which God blesses us. The foundational relationship in our lives is the relationship we have with Jesus. Following the example of His life and teaching gives us the basis for our whole life. Jesus said,"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." Matthew 7:24

To build our house on the rock, we live our lives--our personal, professional, family, and spiritual life--by the instructions Jesus has given in the Bible through His apostles and prophets.

Following His teaching is demanding and difficult. That's why the Lord has given us two important groups to help us keep His words: the family and the local church. A godly family gives us the structure, leadership, and authority we need to continue and grow in God's ways.

Likewise, belonging to a local church puts us under the leadership and authority of God's family. In both the family and the local church, God gives us opportunities to practice his teaching, exercise our faith, and develop the gifts He has given. Both of these institutions, the family and the local church, serve God's great plan to produce in His people the image of Christ.
